How To Make Bagel Chips

This is a great recipe for a healthy snack that still satisfies even the strongest cravings. Bagel chips are a great substitute for normal chips, or potato crisps, because they are not fried. Our recipe for bagel chips involves baking bagel slices that have been lightly drizzeled in olive oil, and this means they are are completely fat free! Lets press on and find out how to make bagel chips.



Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins (plus cooling time)

 

  • 4 bagels
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano leaves


Using a mortar and pestle if you have one, combine the olive oil, garlic and oregano. If you don't have a mortar and pestle you can use a mixing bowl.

Next cut the bagels into very thin slices. Place slices in single layer on oven trays and lightly brush one side of each slice with combined olive oil, garlic and oregano.

Bake in a moderately slow oven for about 15 mins or until lightly browned. cool chips on trays.

Per serving: 5.3g fat; 148kj

This is also a great recipe if you have extra bagels that are not as fresh as they once were, even stale bagels can be turned into tasty bagel chips. Bagel chips can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month.
